This dress is a work of art and instantly recognizable as being a Gaultier. His career spans decades. His first show was in 1976 and his avant garde designs quickly gained him the reputation of being fashion's 'l'enfant terrible'. His designs mixed cultures with abandon, gender norms were blurred and the body was presented encased in ways unimaginable prior to his own unique vision. His first Haute Couture collection debuted in 1997 and his final show where he was the designer was in Spring 2020. He has since then had guest designers come in for his couture collections and I love this solution for him as a designer. Gaultier couture rarely comes to market and this one is exceptional. RARE '90s Couture Satin Sculpted Wedges, Authentic & Vintage
This is an amazing and rare early piece by Alexander Mcqueen. It is the production dress that was done based on the combination of the two runway pictures shown. This was common with his earlier pieces - a more practical version went into the actual stores. I have had several early McQueen pieces like this. The dress is fantastic - it is a sheath dress whose shape is derived by the attached wrapped obi belt feel embroidered sash. You have to step into the dress and through the sash to get it on - it does not open otherwise. It is gathered in a flat pleat bow on one shoulder and the other end highlights the V notch skirt. It is immaculately cut and made of men's suiting. As innovative now as when is debuted. Highly collectible! Bust: 19" flat
